Academy of Finance

 Member of the National Academy Foundation

For more than a decade, the Academy of Finance has introduced students to the broad career opportunities in the financial services industry and, in the process, equipped them to make sound choices for their future. Academies, programs located in high schools across the country, provide students with industry related courses of study, while enabling and encouraging students to earn paid internships at leading financial services corporations, obtain employment after graduation and pursue higher education. Such success results from the Academy of Finance's industry-validated, two to four-year academic program that augments standard curricula.

The Academy of Finance features:

  • Classroom instruction integrated with workplace experience;
  • A six- to eight-week paid internship;
  • An introduction to all facets of the financial services industry;
  • Exposure to current technology; and
  • The opportunity to earn college credit while in high school

In addition to required high school courses, students in the Academy of Finance take two or three specialized courses each semester. These courses were developed by NAF in collaboration with leading educators and industry experts. Moreover, Academy students must take two years of mathematics, one year of accounting, a semester of computer applications and are strongly encouraged to study a foreign language.
