AOIT Mission Statement

In partnership with the community, the Academy of Information Technology provides a leading edge, rigorous, career-focused education which will prepare our diverse student body for post-secondary education and an increasingly technology-oriented society.

For the past 24 years, Washington High School has led the Milwaukee Public Schools in hosting a four year program that has provided students with an understanding of computer technology and careers in programming, computer networking, and computer business applications through the use of a problem-centered curriculum. This program has provided beginning training experiences for students that are consistent with industry expectations.

In the spring of 2000, Washington was chosen as one of twelve schools in the country to pilot a new national technology academy sponsored by the National Academy Foundation. Through this new partnership students will have the ability to earn a nationally recognized certificate in Information Technology.
