P.A.T and A.P. Coursework Washington High School is committed to provide every opportunity for students to advance their knowledge during their four years. Students who show that they can do advanced work will be enrolled in P.A.T. (Program for Academically Talented) courses. These courses in the core areas of English, mathematics, science and social studies are designed to challenge talented students and prepare them for college-level work in their junior and seniors years in any of the five career academies we offer at Washington. Students who demonstrate their academic talents in the P.A.T. courses are expected to enroll in A.P. (Advanced Placement) courses appropriate for them. Currently A.P. courses are offered in Biology, Calculus, Computer Science, English Literature, and US History. Additional AP courses are under consideration for implementation in the immediate future. We take our responsibilities for preparing talented students for college very seriously and will make every attempt to offer appropriate rigorous, high-level, college-prep courses to these students.
