English Department

The English Department at Washington High School consists of a progressive, knowledgeable and energetic staff who have high standards for all students of all academic levels.

We have infused the latest technology into classes and are always willing to implement new programs for increased student academic success.

We offer a variety of courses, including P.A.T classes at every grade level, ESL American Authors, and advanced courses such as University Prep English, and AP Literature.

We also believe that long term learning comes from applying the content area across the curriculum; therefore, our department offers several multi-disciplinary courses.

Student begin with English 9 in the Freshmen Success Academy (4 teachers - English, Math, Civics, Integrated Science). In grades 10-12, students have the opportunity to take English classes in career focused academies (Creative Arts and Manufacturing, Finance, Information Technology, Science & Health, Travel & Tourism) English/Biology, P.A.T World Literature/P.A.T World History, or P.A.T American Authors/AP U.S History.

No matter if students have a vocational, technical, junior college, or four year university focus, Washington High School's English department will prepare students for all of their future goals.
