High school senior, intend to earn a degree in engineering or a related science, U.S. citizen, meet minimum ACT & GPA requirements needed for specific scholarship

#005 – WPPA Scholarship

Wisconsin resident enrolling in a college/technical school in a course of study leading to a 2 or 4-year degree in police science or criminal justice.

#006 – Schneider-Emanuel American Legion Scholarship

Senior whose parent, grandparent, or legal guardian is a member of the American Legion or the student must be a member of have participated in one or more of the American Legion programs. (see application for programs).  Also must have a cumulative GPA of a “B” or better.

#007 – Elks – Most Valuable Student Scholarship Competition

Any high school senior who is a US citizen.  Applicants will be scored on scholarship, leadership and financial need.  Note:  Applications can also be received by emailing enf@elks.org.

#008 – National Alliance for Scholastic Achievement Scholarship

Graduating senior who will be attending a 4-year college.  Must also have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher and have taken the ACT or SAT.  Note:  There is also a $15 application fee.

Senior must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, demonstrate leadership, attend a college or university and have financial need.  Note:  Application can also be submitted on-line at www.gmsp.org.

High school senior.  Must be able to design a home for a fictional family according to certain specifications.

Minority student who will enter 1st year of college at a 4-year college and must plan to pursue a career in the atmospheric or related oceanic or hydrologic sciences.

Student must attend UW-Stevens Point in the fall of 2004 and rank in the top 5-10% of graduating class.  Note:  Counselor must also nominate students.

Student of color with strong academic standing at a Wisconsin school and also submit a nomination form from a teacher or counselor.

#014 – Wisconsin Education Association Council Scholarship

Graduating senior whose parent is a member of WEAC, an active retired member or a parent who died while holding a WEAC membership.  The student must also rank in the top 25% of class or have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Note:  Applications may also be downloaded at www.weac.org/aboutwea/scholarship.htm.

Applicant must be a Hmong student with residency in the US.  Must also plan to attend an accredited college/university for the 2004-05 school year.

#016 – The Chaplain of the Four Chaplains Annual Essay Contest

Graduating seniors in the class of 2004.  Note:  Award is based on essay.

#017 – The Chaplain of the Four Chaplains National Art Contest

Graduating senior.  Any type of flat art, except photography, is eligible.  The artwork must reflect the theme “Making the World a Better Place Through Service and Sacrifice”.  The art must be original and created by the student.

#018 – Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Association Scholarship

High school students between the ages of 16-18.  The applicant must be able to write an essay demonstrating his/her awareness of concrete’s role as a building material.  Note:  Possible themes for the essay are given on the application.

#019 – UW-Oshkosh  Chancellor’s Freshman Leadership Scholarship

Senior attending UW-Oshkosh in the fall, rank in the top 25% of class, taken ACT and must have significant leadership experience (excluding athletics)

#021 – Mary Horwitt Piano Scholarship

MPS middle and high school students can submit the application.  A personal statement in which the student discusses his or her musical background, interest and goals and a 3 to 5 minute audio or video tape of the student’s piano playing is also required.

High school senior with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher who works an average of 15 hours per week or 40 weeks per year.  Only one student from Washington can be nominated so please see Mrs. Woods as soon as possible.

Student must be a dependent or direct descendant of a US Vietnam Veteran.  Also must write an original essay based on an interview with any US Veteran.
