of 2003 and beyond: 1.You
must earn at least 23 units of credit ; 16 units in required courses
and 7 units in electives.
2.Sixteen
units in required courses are:
English -
4 units of credit
Mathematics - 3 units of credit - courses at or above Algebra
1 level.
Science - 3 units of credit - This includes content and laboratory
studies in the physical, biological, and chemicalsciences.
Social Studies - 3 units of credit as follows:
1 unit of U.S. History
1 unit of World History, World Geography OR World Studies/Cultures
1 unit of Citizenship (grade 9-10) OR .5 units of American Government
and .5 units of Economics (grade 11-12)
Physical Ed. - 1.5 units of credit
Health - .5 units of credit
Fine Arts - 1 units of credit - Art, Music, Dance, Theatre
3. Students in the class of 2003 and thereafter must meet learning
proficiency assessment requirements in the areas of Mathematical
Reasoning, Scientific Reasoning, Communication, and Social Studies.
Additional College, Junior College, or Technical School
Requirements:
Math - Geometry
and Advanced Math 1
Language - 2 years of the same foreign language is a requirement
at many 4-year colleges.
Electives
In addition to the academic electives required for high school
graduation, you must have at least 3 additional academic electives,
(Only English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language,
Computer Programming, Speech, Art or Music count as academic electives).
NCAA Requirements for College-Bound Student Athletes:
Division I
Earn at least
a 2.0 grade point average in core curriculum which includes 13
academic courses:
English -
4 years
Math - 2 years: 1 year of algebra, 1 year of geometry
Social Studies - 2 years
Science - 2 years
Electives
1 additional course in English, math, or science
AND
2 additional
academic electives (only English, Math, Science, Social Studies,
Foreign Language, Computer Programming, Speech, Art or Music count
as academic electives).
