In our PAT English class with Ms.Nelson, we read the book Night by Elie Wiesel. It was the story of a young boy who survived the Holocaust. During the reading we encountered the following Nazi, Jewish, and 1930 thru 1934 terms.
Aryan:
Term formerly used to designate the Indo- European race or language family or its Indo- Iranian subgroup.
Barracks:
a large, unadorned building used for temporary occupancy. Two house occupancies.
Birkenau:
A concentration camp that is basically considered to be Auschwitz #2 it is also known as an extermination camp.
Buna:
Rubber used by Pre- Columbian peoples of South and Central America for balls, containers, and shoes and for waterproofing fabrics.
Beadle:
Jewish man who was imprisoned in a concentration camp, mistaken for dead, and used that idea to escape. |
