Academy of Science and Health

The
mission of the Washington High School Science and Health Academy
will be to provide students with scientific concepts to equip
them to live in the 21st century. The academy will promote high
academic standards in a rigorous curriculum to allow students
to develop skills to enter the work force and inspire them to
choose science and health related careers.

The
Objectives of the Science and Health Academy are:
- to enable students
to explore their own interests, strengths and personal goals in
relation to their career through guest speakers and field experiences.
- to provide
learning experiences through integration of biology and English
classes.
- to enhance
skills in problem solving, decision making and high level thinking
through laboratory investigations, pre-college programs, job-shadowing
and internships.
- to increase
access to and practice with current technologies such as: computers,
CD-ROM, videotaping, video conferencing and Internet use.
- to foster mutual
respect collaboration, and individual accountability in small and
large groups.
